Why Don’t Israelis Do Wall-to-Wall Carpeting?
Every single time, American clients are surprised that wall to wall carpets are not a thing here in Israel. In the US, carpet in the bedrooms is our safe space. It is inviting and warm and makes us feel at home. Here in Israel it is not really done, at all. Space rugs are common but the consensus is that parquet is good enough for the homey effect, and no need for rugs.

The main reason is cleaning.
Israelis like to wash their floors. I mean bucketfuls of soapy water and squeegee it away.
Then there is the Middle Eastern dust. We keep our windows open, there is construction everywhere and somehow sand gets into the house even when you do not live near the beach. Carpet collects all of it. Tile is easier to wash, and it also feels cooler during most of the year.
But it is also a simple cultural difference. It is a different idea of what makes a home feel comfortable.

Having said that, you absolutely can get wall-to-wall carpet in Israel. There are importers, suppliers and installers, although there are fewer options than you may be used to abroad. It should also be planned early because it affects the door heights, baseboards and transitions between rooms.
Area rugs add color, warmth and softness, but you can still lift it, clean it or replace it without redoing the entire floor.
So yes, you can have wall-to-wall carpet in Israel. Just be prepared for your Israeli contractor, designer, and friends to look confused and ask how you plan to wash it.
